Bringing together the chants of Indian vedas in a head banging, rocking format with strong doses of mythology, AYOG is a Vedic Metal band from Central India.
Created in 2012, AYOG has Tanmay Kolte on Guitar, Abhay Koyadwar high on drums, Vicky Singh Chandel with Bass and Surojit Sen driving the vedic chant as lead vocalist. What began as a fusion project with friends, combining classical music, ragaas and contemporary music, gradually gave way to a new sound that took a life of its own. Surojit who played tabla previously took the sounds vocal, giving the genre a different twist.
One of the few bands in this genre, AYOG uses Indian classical chants to create unique rock sounds that re-define the genre of heavy metal music. Their vocals are an ‘Acapela ensemble of classical Indian instruments’ that brings together two diverse yet rich musical influences.
